Why are F1 Caracats more expensive than Caracals?
Caracat F1 is not just a hybrid — it’s the result of a unique and highly complex breeding program.
Around the world, these kittens are valued even higher than purebred caracals. Why? Let us explain.
1. Enormous Investment — With No Guarantees
Producing Caracats F1 requires:
• years of preparation,
• high financial costs,
• daily care and specialized housing.
And all of this comes with no guarantee of success.
For example: to launch our Caracat F1 program, we acquired six male caracals, each requiring special enclosures and individual maintenance.
2. Years of Selective Breeding — For One Suitable Female
To produce just one ideal female for mating with a caracal, breeders must:
• select based on type, size, and coat color,
• work through 2–4 generations,
• invest years of careful planning.
And even then, the caracal may refuse to mate with her.
3. Caracals Don’t Easily Accept Mates
Most male caracals:
• do not recognize heat signals in domestic cats,
• and do not perceive them as potential mates.
Out of our six males, four refused to breed.
What do we do with them now?
Adult caracals that don’t participate in breeding programs are extremely difficult to sell, and breeders often face suspicion from buyers.
4. Pregnancy Risks and Kitten Losses
Even if mating occurs:
• gestation periods between domestic cats and caracals differ significantly,
• leading to premature births,
• and in many cases, kittens do not survive.
A healthy Caracat F1 kitten is a rare success story.
5. Why F1 Kittens Are So Valuable
Each Caracat F1 is the result of:
• extensive breeding work,
• major financial investment,
• emotional dedication,
• and, most importantly — the courage to risk everything with no guarantees.
These kittens are not only stunningly unique,

6. We are the only ones in the world
As of March 2025:
• Only one cattery in the world consistently produces F1 Caracat kittens — that’s us.
• Just two catteries worldwide have managed to produce F1HP Caracats.
