The World’s First Caracats F1 with 75% Caracal Blood (F1-75%)®

In July 2019, a major milestone was achieved in the world of feline breeding — at VIPLEO cattery, the world’s first caracat kittens with 75% caracal blood were born. Their parents were a purebred caracal named Skif VIPLEO and an F1 caracat female named Demetra VIPLEO.

A few months later, in March 2020, Skif became a father again — this time to kittens born from two F1 caracat females with 50% caracal blood: Nora VIPLEO and Demetra VIPLEO. These breedings also resulted in kittens with 75% wild blood. From an early age, Skif and Demetra bonded well, making them a perfect breeding pair. We are truly delighted to introduce the world to the stunning outcome of this planned breeding — strong, striking kittens with exceptional type and color.

The Purpose of Breeding Caracats F1-75%

  1. Breed Improvement

The primary goal was to produce F1-75% females that could be used in future breeding programs to produce F2 and F3 generations. A higher percentage of caracal blood helps preserve the desired features — bold type, large size, and rich coat color.

  2. Alternative to Wild Species

In many countries, owning caracals or servals is prohibited, while owning F1 hybrids is allowed. For people who dream of having a wild-looking cat but can’t legally keep a wild animal, a caracat F1 with 75% caracal blood becomes the perfect alternative. The closer their appearance is to a pure caracal, the more desirable they are to such owners.

  3. Behavior & Temperament

Reducing the “wild blood” to 75% helps maintain the exotic appearance while softening the temperament. The remaining 25% comes from a specially selected domestic cat line with a very affectionate and social personality, also bred at VIPLEO. As a result, these hybrids are much easier to handle at home — especially the males, since caring for an adult male caracal requires significant experience. I often advise against keeping a male caracal as a pet.

  4. Global Practice

Other hybrid breeds such as Savannahs and Chausies also have lines with a higher percentage of wild blood, which are very popular worldwide. Now, caracats have joined their ranks — and that’s fantastic! It’s always a good thing to have more options.

The World Has Met the First Caracats F1-75%!

We are proud to present the world’s first F1 caracats with 75% caracal blood. The father of the kittens — Skif VIPLEO (purebred caracal). The mother — Demetra VIPLEO (F1 caracat). Today, we can confidently say that these kittens look almost indistinguishable from pure caracals. Yet 25% of their genetics comes from a very gentle domestic cat — a line specially developed at VIPLEO for temperament. We are thrilled that our years of work are bringing such exceptional results. This marks a new stage in the development of the breed, and it will be fascinating to watch how these kittens grow. I’m sure they will delight us all — I’m already in love with them!

Why a Caracat F1-75% Is the Ideal Choice

Most people wouldn’t be able to tell them apart from a pure caracal — that’s how close they look. This makes them especially attractive. At the same time, their temperament is much softer and more manageable. F1-75% caracats get along well with children and coexist peacefully with other pets — both cats and dogs.
